Whatton Farm Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil
We have long been aware of the benefits of a Mediterranean diet, but did you know that looking in our own fields could make that diet even better? The bright yellow patchwork of oilseed rape across our countryside is a familiar sight in early summer, and hidden inside its tiny seeds is something rather special.... Rapeseed oil!
Whatton Farm Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil is a tasty, versatile, healthy and British alternative to olive oil. Fully traceable and sustainable, we put nothing in and take nothing out. Rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9, it contains the least saturated fat of all oils (less than HALF that of olive oil!) – and that’s good, as current advice confirms a diet high in saturated fat is linked to poorer heart health. It has less monounsaturated fat than olive oil, but a bigger proportion of polyunsaturated fat, which helps to lower LDL cholesterol. Plus, Rapeseed Oil contains considerably more vitamin E than olive oil – a tablespoon provides a fifth of our daily need for this powerful antioxidant.
A high burn point (220ºC) makes it a fantastic choice for roasting and frying as it allows it to retain its nutrition credentials, and its delicious nutty taste and beautiful golden colour make it ideal for drizzles, dressings, sauces and marinades.
What is Extra Virgin? This means it comes from the first pressing of the seeds only, ensuring the best quality.
And Cold Pressed? No chemicals have been used to extract the oil so that it retains its goodness.
Why not try one of our infused oils?
Our Sizzling Stir Fry oil is infused with garlic, ginger and chilli for an extra kick, or for something more traditionally British, our Sunday Roast with rosemary and garlic goes well with all things, well, roast!
